زمینه و هدف: خستگی روحی و جسمی پرسنل فرودگاه، باعث کاهش استانداردهای شغلی و تمرکز مفید آنان می‌شود. هدف از پژوهش حاضر، بررسی کیفیت خواب و تأثیر آن بر شکست شناختی و عملکرد شغلی در بین پرسنل فرودگاه بود.
روش‌کار: در این مطالعه‌ی توصیفی- تحلیلی، تعداد ۲۰۰ نفر از پرسنل یک فرودگاه به روش نمونه‌گیری در دسترس و سهمیه‌ای انتخاب گردید. ابزار جمع‌آوری اطلاعات شامل چهار پرسش‌نامه‌ی مشخصات دموگرافیک، کیفیت خواب، شکست شناختی و عملکرد شغلی بود. برای تجزیه و تحلیل اطلاعات از آمار توصیفی و آزمون‌های ضریب همبستگی و رگرسیون استفاده شد.
یافته‌ها: نتایج مطالعه‌ی حاضر نشان داد که نمره‌ی کیفیت خواب، شکست شناختی و عملکرد شغلی به ترتیب ۳/۲۳ ± ۶/۷۸، ۲۲/۳۶ ± ۶۵/۲۰ و ۵/۵۹ ± ۳۹/۵۹ بود. میانگین نمره‌ی کیفیت خواب پرسنل در دو حیطه‌ی تأخیر به ‌خواب ‌رفتن (۵/۸۲ ± ۱/۰) و طول مدت خواب (۱/۰۵ ± ۱/۴۳) بالاتر از زیرمقیاس‌های دیگر بود. مطابق با یافته‌ها، بین نمره‌ی کیفیت خواب و نمره‌ی شکست شناختی با نمره‌ی عملکرد شغلی، رابطه‌ی معکوس و معنی‌داری وجود داشت (P<۰/۰۵ ، r= -۰/۱۹۵)، در حالی که ارتباط میان نمره‌ی کیفیت خواب و نمره‌ی شکست شناختی، مستقیم و معنی‌دار بود (P<۰/۰۵ ، r= -۰/۳۸۹).
نتیجه‌گیری: یافته‌ها نشان داد که بین کیفیت خواب و شکست شناختی، رابطه‌ی معنی‌داری وجود دارد، به طوری که با کاهش کیفیت خواب، شکست شناختی پرسنل فرودگاه نیز افزایش یافته و احتمالاً باعث افزایش خطای انسانی می‌شود. بنابراین با افزایش کیفیت خواب و راحتی و ارائه‌ی راهکارهای ارگونومیک، می‌توان تا حد زیادی از شکست شناختی پرسنل جلوگیری کرده و عملکرد شغلی را بالا برد.
