زمینه و هدف: صنعت پتروشیمی از نظر ایمنی جزءصنایع بحرانی محسوب می شود. غلب حوادث رخ داده در این صنعت با فاکتورهای انسانی ارتباط دارند. به همین دلیل مداخله جهت بهبود سطح ایمنی در این صنعت اهمیت زیادی دارد. مطالعات مختلف نشان داده اند که پیاده سازی اصول تولید ناب می تواند به بهبود وضعیت ایمنی و ارگونومی محیط منجر شود. در این مطالعه از اصول تولید ناب جهت کاهش خطای انسانی و بهبود پاسخ دهی در شرایط اضطراری استفاده شد.
روش کار: جهت ارزیابی خطاهای انسانی از روش CREAM پایه استفاده شد. جهت انتخاب ابزارهای تولید ناب متناسب با ماهیت وظایف واکنش در شرایط اضطراری، از نظرات پنل 20 نفره از متخصصین و کارشناسان شامل مدیران صنعت مورد مطالعه، مسئولین HSE و اساتید دانشگاه استفاده شد. جهت بررسی میزان تاثیر اجرای اصول تولید ناب در کاهش خطاهای انسانی در شرایط اضطراری، 6 ماه پس از اجرای مداخلات تولید ناب، خطاهای انسانی مجدد مورد بررسی قرار گرفتند.  
یافته ها: نتایج حاصل از ارزیابی خطاهای انسانی قبل و بعد از اجرای مداخلات تولید ناب، نشان داد که سطح کنترل سه زیر وظیفه از سطح تاکتیکی به سطرح استراتژیک ارتقاء یافت. بیشترین احتمای خطای انسانی در زیروظیفه آمارگیری جهت تخلیه کامل افراد از محل حادثه بود.
نتیجه گیری: نتایج این مطالعه نشان داد طراحی و پیاده سازی آن دسته از مداخلات بهبود که قادر باشند همزمان در کنار ارتقاء سطح ایمنی به بهبود بهره وری سازمانی نیز کمک کند بیشتر مورد پذیرش مدیریت صنایع بوده و شانس موفقیت بیشتری دارد.

نتایج این مطالعه نشان داد طراحی و پیاده‌سازی آندسته از مداخلات بهبود که هم‌زمان درکنار ارتقای سطح ایمنی به بهبود بهره‌وری سازمانی نیز کمک کند بیشتر مورد پذیرش مدیریت صنایع بوده و شانس موفقیت بیشتری دارد.
