زمینه و هدف: فعالیت فیزیکی منظم نقش مهمی در پیشگیری از کمردرد، پوکی استخوان، بیماری‌های قلبی ـ عروقی، چاقی، انواع دیابت، سرطان، فشار خون بالا، افسردگی و مرگ زودرس دارد. همچنین توانایی کار، منعکس‌کنندۀ تعاملات بین میزان توانایی جسمانی و ذهنی، شرایط کاری، قابلیت‌های عملکردی کارکنان و وضعیت سلامت آنها است. در این پژوهش ارتباط بین شاخص توانایی انجام کار با سطح فعالیت فیزیکی بررسی شده است.
روش‌‌ کار: این مطالعه از نوع توصیفی ـ تحلیلی است که به‌صورت مقطعی بین 120 نفر از کارکنان مشاغل اداری و عملیاتی انجام گرفت. برای اندازه‌گیری میزان فعالیت فیزیکی و شاخص توانایی انجام کار به‌ترتیب از پرسش‌نامۀ بین‌المللی فعالیت بدنی و نسخۀ ایرانی پرسش‌نامۀ شاخص توانایی انجام کار استفاده شد. داده‌ها با نرم‌افزار SPSS نسخۀ 20 و با سطح معناداری (0/05>P) تجزیه‌وتحلیل شد.
یافته‌ها: در این مطالعه، باغبان‌ها و کارمندان اداری به‌ترتیب با میانگین
4206/09 و 3567/58 بیشترین و کمترین سطح فعالیت فیزیکی را داشته‌اند؛ ولی شاخص توانایی انجام کار در تمام گروه‌ها تقریباً مشابه به دست آمد. همچنین آزمون پیرسون نشان داد بین شاخص توانایی انجام کار و فعالیت فیزیکی ارتباط معناداری وجود ندارد.
نتیجه‌گیری: براساس یافته‌های پژوهش، جامعۀ مطالعه از لحاظ شاخص توانایی انجام کار و سطح فعالیت فیزیکی، به‌ترتیب در گروه خوب و سطح بالا قرار گرفت. ضمناً بین دو مؤلفۀ یادشده رابطۀ معناداری وجود نداشت. بنابراین، برای ارتقای شاخص توانایی انجام کار، باید برنامه‌های مداخله‌ای در اولویت قرار بگیرد.
